Description
Our Wanderlust DNA Test will help you discover whether or not your genetics carry 7 or more repeats of “DRD4-7R”. Learn how your DNA contributes to who you are and how you think and act.
What You Could Learn from a DNA Wanderlust Test
Do you dream of traveling the world? Do you long to see the pyramids in Egypt or walk along the Great Wall of China? Does your mind wander to faraway places when you’re stuck in a cubicle all day? If so, it might be because you have “the wanderlust gene.” At Dynamic DNA Labs, we offer genetic personality testing that can help you find out more about how your DNA affects your personality.
What Is a Wanderlust DNA Test?
Individuals with the “wanderlust gene” produce a version of the D4 receptor that doesn’t bind dopamine as well as those with 6 or fewer repeats. This leads to reduced levels of dopamine in the brain and less of the “good feeling” associated with it. Even though you may not be aware of this your brain is, and compels you to increase your levels of dopamine through behavior. In most people, this results in more novelty-seeking activities, such as travel, exploration, drug experimentation, and sexual promiscuity.
How Wanderlust DNA Tests Work
Wanderlust DNA tests—just like our other tests—require only a simple cheek swab. We use the DNA from the cells in your saliva to score for Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (or SNPs, pronounced as “snips”).
According to a 2018 study, there is data to support that analysis of SNPs reveals the influence of DNA on intelligence, personality, and neuroticism, among other mental and behavioral traits.
Our testing kit looks the gene that is called the dopamine D4 receptor, or DRD4. There are different varieties of DRD4, and people with a certain DNA sequence tend to be more curious and adventurous. This version of the gene has 48 letters (or base pairs) in its sequence and is repeated between 2-11 times.
